“In time, you will be able to run the race of life and set the pace as others do. Until then and generally always, run your own race and remember; it’s ok to stop and re-calibrate.
–Breathe” D.S. Pasipanodya
i) Stand or sit still and get a hold of yourself.
ii) Know that you are in one place and are not doing anything wrong. Give yourself time and space. If necessary, tell the people around you that you need space and/or time.
iii) Be one with yourself. [Clutch your knees, bend over, and breathe deliberately if necessary].
iv) Think happy thoughts. Where would you rather be, or what would you rather be doing? Who do you want to be? What do you want to become?
v) Come back to reality. Identify the problem. What has just happened? What is making you sad?
vi) Can it be solved? In assessing the answer to this question and to (v) above, do not be afraid to cry. Let it out and be honest. If the situation is absurd, laugh. Be fearless but realistic. What went wrong or what just happened?
vii) Plan your next move. Do you need to apologize? Do you need time to think? Do you need to give the situation time?
– Think strategically. Be objective. How does society perceive your actions? Do you have allies or a way out? Is it a smart thing to eject back into reality at that moment?
viii) Carry out your next moves slowly and deliberately so as to always be aware of the situation and to put your best foot forward.
– Try not to be antagonistic. Give yourself time to heal.
ix) In time, you will be able to run the race of life and set the pace as others. Until then and generally always, run your own race and remember, it’s ok to stop and re-calibrate.
