In the last issue we talked about tapping the potential of LinkedIn and using it to create networks and at the same time establishing your own name. In this second series we will talk about the need for an Individualistic Approach to getting a job.
a. Organizational Culture:Every organization is built on a peculiar ground called foundation but the making of every foundation is unique. I was just reading that Tatenda Taibu is coming from retired and will be playing for a Club in Liverpool starting this year. As i read the article the manager of the Club said, Taibu wanted to hear more about our organizational goals, objectives, history not shared in books and news. Before you apply for a job take time to know how that organization recruits and fires, how the internal politics is handled, learn corporate governance and administration powers. These and more will be a standpoint that will inspire you to apply or make you go away from the opportunity at the look of it.
b. Evaluating Career Development: Career Development is a necessary path which is also aided by Getting a Job. How you get the job is one thing but you also need to know what your prospective employer does to aid that career development. does that employer carry a history of human resource development or the employer cuts corners and never want well educated and continuously developing resource persons.
c. Generate specific Resume’: Because every employer has a unique vision, mission, goal and objectives how they conduct business though with best practice in play has a certain level of uniqueness. In this regard, not all your qualifications and extra curricular strengths be necessary. You thus need to tailor every Resume’ in accordance to what that prospective employer wants.
